What it does

Four tools that only speak up when there's something to say.

PetWays answers one question on every walk: is this route safe right now — and if it isn't, how fast can I reach someone.

Community reports

Hazard pins, dropped by the people who walk here

Someone rounds a corner, finds a loose dog or a patch of broken glass, and pins it. The next walker sees it before they get there. Each pin carries a category, an optional note, and a photo if one helps.

Alert radius

As far out as you actually walk

Set the distance alerts reach — a half-kilometre loop or a ten-kilometre hike. Anything past your radius stays quiet.

0.5 km Your radius 10 km
Walk tracking

Every walk, on the record

Start a walk and PetWays traces the route, distance, pace, and time, then files a summary you can look back on. That history lives on your phone, not on our servers.

Emergency

One tap to the person who'd come get you

Hold the emergency button and PetWays runs a two-step sequence to the contact saved on your dog's profile — no menus, no typing.

Step 01Texts your emergency contact your current location
Step 02Places a call to that same contact

PetWays does not dial 911 or contact emergency services. If you or your dog are in danger, call emergency services directly.

The walk

Set it up once. After that it's just a walk.

Before you leave

Fill in your dog's profile

Breed, age, weight, medical notes, microchip number, your vet, and the person to call in an emergency. You do this once, and it's there when it counts.

During the walk

Start a walk and watch the road

PetWays traces your route and checks it against hazards other walkers have reported inside your alert radius. See something new? Drop a pin in a few taps.

If something happens

Reach someone fast

The emergency screen texts your contact your location and calls them. Your vet's number is already on the profile, so you're not searching for it one-handed.

Real dogs, real walks

Built by someone whose dogs actually do this.

PetWays exists because a walk is worth being present for — not worth spending anxious about what's around the next corner.

Inside the app

Three screens you'll actually use.

PetWays is deliberately small. There's a map you walk with, a form you report from, and a profile that holds the details you'd otherwise be digging for.

Privacy policy

What we collect, and why we need it.

Effective May 22, 2026 S.A.M LLC, DBA PetWays

PetWays is a dog walking safety and community awareness platform. This Privacy Policy explains how S.A.M LLC, doing business as PetWays, collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the PetWays mobile application and related services.

01Information we collect

We may collect account information such as your name, email address, display name, authentication provider information, and basic profile details. If you create a pet profile, we may collect pet-related information such as pet name, breed, age, medical notes, veterinarian information, and emergency contact details.

PetWays uses location information to provide core safety features, including centering the map, showing nearby hazard reports, recording walk routes, placing community reports accurately, and supporting emergency safety tools. Walk history, route points, distance, duration, and related activity data may be stored locally on your device and, where supported by the app, in cloud services connected to your account.

If you submit a community danger report, we may collect the report type, description, approximate location, timestamp, votes or validation activity, and any photo you choose to attach.

02How we use information

We use information to operate PetWays, authenticate users, display nearby safety reports, record walks, manage pet profiles, support emergency features, improve reliability, prevent abuse, enforce our terms, and communicate important service information.

We do not use PetWays to show your live location to other walkers. Community reports may display hazard locations so other users can make safer decisions.

03Location data

Location access is important to PetWays. We use it to show nearby hazards, track walks when you start a walk, and place reports accurately. You can control location permissions through your device settings. Some features may not work correctly if location access is disabled.

04Photos and uploaded content

You may choose to upload photos for certain safety reports or pet profile features. Uploaded content is used to provide app functionality and may be stored using Firebase services. Do not upload content you do not have permission to share.

05Firebase and third-party services

PetWays uses Firebase services such as Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Firebase Messaging. These services help us provide login, data storage, image upload, notification, and security features. Firebase and Google may process information according to their own policies.

06Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information when needed to operate app features, comply with law, protect users, prevent fraud or abuse, or support service providers that help run PetWays.

07Account deletion and data choices

You may request or initiate account deletion through the app where available. Account deletion may remove your account profile, pet profile information, notification tokens, and local walk history. Community hazard reports may be retained for safety and continuity, but may be anonymized so they are no longer tied to your account. See Delete your account for step-by-step instructions.

08Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and users should use PetWays responsibly and keep account credentials safe.

09Children

PetWays is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us so we can review and respond.

10Safety disclaimer

PetWays is designed to support safer dog walking decisions, but it is not a substitute for your own judgment, supervision, local authorities, emergency services, or professional advice. Always remain aware of your surroundings.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as PetWays evolves or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

What does PetWays actually collect about me?

Your account details (name, email, display name), your dog's profile (breed, age, weight, medical notes, vet and emergency contact), and location while you use the app. Location is what powers nearby hazards, walk routes, and accurate report placement. The full breakdown is in Data safety and the Privacy Policy.

How does the emergency button really work?

It texts the emergency contact saved on your dog's profile with your location, then calls that same contact. It does not dial 911, it does not reach a monitoring service, and it does not share your live location with other PetWays users. Treat it as a fast line to someone you know — not as emergency dispatch.

Can other walkers see where I am?

No. PetWays never broadcasts your live location to other users. The only thing others see is a hazard report you chose to submit, shown at the spot you placed it.

What happens when I delete my account?

Your account profile, pet profiles, notification tokens, and local walk history are removed. Hazard reports you submitted stay on the map so other walkers keep the safety information, but they're anonymized and no longer connected to you. Full instructions are under Delete your account.

Why does the app need camera and photo access?

Only for two things you choose to do: attaching a photo to a hazard report, and setting a picture on your dog's profile. Both are optional — declining the permission leaves the rest of the app working normally. See Permissions for the full list.

Does PetWays work without an internet connection?

Walk tracking uses your device's GPS and stores the route locally, so a walk keeps recording through patchy signal. Community hazard reports, sign-in, and map tiles need a connection — those parts will catch up once you're back online.

About

Who makes PetWays.

PetWays is built and operated by S.A.M LLC, doing business as PetWays, for dog owners in the United States.

The app came out of a simple observation: the things that make a dog walk go wrong — a loose dog two streets over, a coyote sighting at dusk, glass on the sidewalk after a bin gets knocked — are almost always known to somebody in the neighbourhood before they're known to you. There just wasn't a good way to pass that along. PetWays is that channel, plus the practical things you want on hand when a walk turns: your dog's medical notes, your vet's number, and one button that reaches the person who'd come get you.

We've kept it deliberately narrow. PetWays doesn't have a social feed, it doesn't run ads, and it doesn't sell data. It shows you what's on the streets ahead and gets out of the way.

Questions about the company, the app, or a data request go to petwayssupport@gmail.com.
